Hubster and I have had a Cineworld pass for the last few years which means we get to go to the cinema a lot. It’s one of my happy places, a cool dark room, with no phones — I quite often go when I need quiet time (weird eh?).

I’ve made it to 31 films this year. My hands down favourite film of the year was Knives Out — a total surprise as I had no expectations (especially of Daniel Craig with a southern accent) and the first film in a long time where I laughed out loud — and at the same time as others in the cinema no less!

My close second, creeping in at the end of the year was Little Women. I am a child of the 90s so I’m not sure anyone could have ever matched the Claire Danes’ “I can be brave like you” but I was wrong — and I am in love!

Here’s a list of the films I’ve seen in the year:

  1. The Favourite
  2. Beautiful Boy
  3. The Kid Who Would Be King
  4. Alita
  5. Lego 2
  6. Instant Family
  7. On the basis of sex
  8. Fighting with my family
  9. Captain Marvel (x3!)
  10. Hellboy (OK, this one was just terrible — worst film I saw this year)
  11. The Avengers: End Game (x3!)
  12. Missing Link
  13. John Wick 3
  14. Aladdin
  15. Pokémon: Detective Pikachu
  16. Late Night
  17. Toy Story 4
  18. Spiderman: Far From Home
  19. Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw
  20. The Lion King
  21. Hustlers
  22. The Day Shall Come
  23. The Aeronauts
  24. Maleficent 2
  25. The Good Liar
  26. Last Christmas (Fuck the critics, I loved this!)
  27. Charlie’s Angels (I also loved this, it was fun goddammit!)
  28. Knives Out
  29. Star wars: Rise of Skywalker (x2!)
  30. Little Women (x2!)
  31. Frozen 2
