The Conversation is written by Robert Armstrong, a lecturer at Harvard University and is a book about anti-racism, aimed at organisations. I came across this book when it was covered by the Journey Further bookclub in February (this is an ace business bookgroup that gives me so many ideas on what to read!). I then read and studied it alongside Danae Shell and then spoke about it at 5Things (an awesome wee event organised by Andy Irvine).
It’s a fantastic book, filled with so much information, research and facts. I keep coming back to it to look things up and…
I like to write about the books I’ve read each year. It serves as a good reminder of what I have read in the last 12 months — and I really do like to share my reading habits!
This year is no different — I read a total of 56, just one more than last year, despite a good couple of months of non-reading (at the beginning of lockdown and at the end of the year when my cat was poorly then passed away).
Here are some stats!
For those who know me, I’ve been bullet journalling for about 4 years now. The details about how I bullet-journal and why is probably a whole other article (and more!), but I wanted to share with you the practice I’ve taken from my work at #ENTRYLEVELBOSS into my personal life and how it has helped me, especially in this dumpster 🔥of a year!

It’s complicated for me. My father was born in Nairobi and was not white, nor black and whilst I have never considered myself as black (obvs), I have not considered myself as wholly white either. I think it made me think of myself as ‘aside’ from racial issues. Idiot.
Also. What is happening right now…
Hubster and I have had a Cineworld pass for the last few years which means we get to go to the cinema a lot. It’s one of my happy places, a cool dark room, with no phones — I quite often go when I need quiet time (weird eh?).
I’ve made it to 31 films this year. My hands down favourite film of the year was Knives Out — a total surprise as I had no expectations (especially of Daniel Craig with a southern accent) and the first film in a long time where I laughed out loud — and…
This year I set myself an ambitious target of reading (or listening to) 52 books. I must admit, I was a little concerned that if I set a high number target, I would just plod, rather than enjoy, but I am proud to report this was not the case. Reader, I made it! 55 books in total, and looking through the list, I realised, not only have I made it — but I remember them all too. Yay!
Of the 55 books — I read 14 in Book form, 26 by Kindle and 13 using audio. 33 were by female…
